Full title: Ghosts of the past - Four decades of independency in Tunisia - Still a poor country?
There's one particularly notorious tourist attraction, where tourists watch traditionally dressed Tunisian women grinding flour and singing songs on an 'authentic' farm somewhere in the middle of the desert. And of course, this is followed by a huge meal, which is a tradition most Tunisians would only see at weddings and engagements. After the meal, farm workers are pressed into balancing jars and singing songs in happy-peasant fashion, while tourist guides describe scene as "Tunisians - a population which is both serious when working and joyful in its moments of leisure"
On this photo you can see one of these flour grinding Tunisian women taking a rest on the doorstep of her home.
